THE EAST

"And behold, the glory of the God of Israel was coming from the east. And the sound of his coming was like the sound of many waters, and the earth shone with his glory."
As I lay pondering the significance of east, an incredible parallel entered my thoughts. A parallel not to a word, but to a lifestyle. So radical it could not be ignored, so distinct it could not mistaken or overlooked. " Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!"proclaims the author of Chronicles. In everything, declare His glory, bear His image, proclaim His grace. Every thought, every action, every word saturated with all that He is and we are not, dripping with love and compassion. Such should be the mindset of the body. A brilliant portrayal of His glory "coming through" us, washing away distorted misconceptions of who He is created by hell-bound church-goers wallowing in their hopeless apathy. Wake up O' sleepers! Embrace the Kingdom!
One might argue that such childish lessons are taught all the time. However primarily by those who have not yet come to grasp this concept on any level for themselves, rendering anything they say irrelevant. To allow Christ to shine should be at the core of our drive, the forefront of our thoughts.
To be such a man is my ultimate aspiration. Not a mirror but a window, a portal that the world may see through and know.
To truly become, THE EAST.

  1. ah, so this is why you were asking me about the east. I think you have a much better understanding of it than I do! This blog title and entry is wicked. I look foward to seeing more from the mind of Joshua Whitson! :) Friend!

  2. Josh, that was really cool. I've had a hard time working back to doing the right things for the right reasons. Its hard not to try to work for appearance's sake with my family around and at my job, but God is faithful. Thanks for the insight into another aspect of our identity as Christians.
